Put GA SR 6 on the ballot in 2016. Let the people of the state of Georgia vote on it!

The Issue

This is GA State Resolution 6, proposed to the GA State Senate by Senator Curt Thompson. http://www.legis.ga.gov/Legislation/en-US/display/20152016/SR/6

This resolution would legalize cannabis for people over the age of 21.

Instead of tabling this issue, how about making some progress as a society? This would revolutionize the economy, case in point: Colorado has collected so much tax revenue that the state has to legally give back some of the money, based on a 1992 vote which set limits on the amount of tax the State was allowed to collect. Instead of trying to put nearly everyone in jail for something that's actually beneficial to people's health, give Georgians a chance to make the very rational decision to legalize cannabis by putting this issue to vote. Based upon the fact that marijuana is non-toxic and not addictive, it's safe even under a doctor's supervision, and has widely accepted medicinal value, "marihuana" or delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol shouldn't even be listed as a Schedule I substance. It's definitely safer than alcohol, yet alcohol is rampantly available. Put SR 6 on the ballot in 2016, and let the voters of Georgia vote on marijuana legalization.
