The Issue

With the demand for convenience and practicality becoming overwhelming common in society it is time for change. The current licensing restrictions on the use of mobile shops and salons in the state of Georgia, governed by the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers, is not only outdated ; but hindering the progression of entrepreneurial creativity and innovation in the hair and beauty industry. There are members of the community that will be positively impacted by this overdue change such as seniors, low income communities and  working members of society that no longer desire to wait in barber shops but desire a more personal experience in a mobile setting.

How is it that food trucks are licensed and legal but getting your hair and beauty needs preformed on a truck are not licensed and legal? With Georgia being the forerunner in the hair and beauty industry there is no reason why we should be confined and stipend when other states such Texas, Virginia and Oklahoma have allowed such creativity.

Also, many dog and pet groomers are performing very similar task on mobile grooming trucks and have made great strides in their industry by doing so. Citizens want the same convenience and as professionals we should have the option to fill such voids. Every industry is moving to a more mobile and direct method of service and it is time for the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers to allow such methods as well.
