Stop Hillwood Clear Fell

The issue

28 hectares of forested land, between the East Tamar Highway and Hillwood Road, currently zoned as 'Priority Habitat' is subject to a clear fell proposal by the owner.  The native forest contains many important and endangered plant and animal species, and provides a vital buffer between the highway and a residential area.  The environmental impact of clear felling this native bush to further expand the industrial scale berry farming will be tragic if approvals are granted.  Endangered plant and animal species, cannot continue to survive here with further habitat loss. Many plants and animals are at risk including spotted tail and eastern quolls, eastern barred bandicoots, various wallaby species, possums and large range of native birds, reptiles and insects. Hillwood has been subjected to significant clear felling in recent months, with negative changes imposed on this picturesque and quiet semi-rural community. The community is overwhelmingly opposed to this latest clear fell proposal.  Replacing rich native habitat with further proliferation of fenced poly-tunnel production for the supermarket trade?  Hillwood berries are not so sweet!!
