Thank you for your continued support. Sadly, I have to inform you that the situation has worsened.
Last week I received a huge bundle of documents from Coodes Solicitors (who are supposed to be acting for John Buchanan’s Estate) including a costs order of over £8,000. I have to attend Truro County Court on March 9th in their final step to evict me from Riverside.
I believe Simon Wright, the developer, is not taking the action himself (he did try to evict me over a year ago) but has put pressure on Coodes to do it for him.
Simon Wright is still not able to produce the company details for the Agreement he is relying on and ignoring that other chalets in the cluster have been passed on over the years setting a precedent.
At a public meeting on Thursday, he told everyone he wanted to save the chalets, but his solicitor’s letter to John’s solicitor is demanding Riverside is removed.
I have reported Ben Sidgwick of Coodes, to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (Simon Wright knew about the court hearing 3 weeks before I did which is unacceptable) and thankfully his conduct has concerned them enough to begin an investigation. I thought Ben Sidgwick would postpone the hearing pending the outcome, but as he is pressing on regardless, the SRA will hopefully take that into account.
I am really anxious about going to court as this is not something I had ever imagined would happen. It has shattered the peace and tranquillity that beautiful Riverside has always represented.
If you recall, Ben Sidgwick is still withholding John’s ashes until I vacate Riverside. I cannot comprehend how he thinks this acceptable when Coodes wrote John’s Will and knew his wishes were to scatter his ashes on an ebbing tide in the company of friends. John would be so angry his ashes are being held to ransom and I know for certain he would be telling me to fight to the bitter end to save his cherished home.
