The people, request current Director Stepheni Lazar be removed from her position as Director of GCAC. Genesee County Animal Control needs a new mission that consists of supportive, loving and responsible care for all the animals in our community. All animals at GCAC need to be treated humanely, it is imperative that they receive proper nurturing care, daily exercise, socialization, and proper and timely medical care. The facility needs improvements to its ventilation and sewer and drainage systems, more outside runs, kennels that allow movement, and updates for a more welcoming environment. Citizens must be able to locate their lost animals and be able to take them home when they come for them. The practice of locked wards, where animals are not seen and are not taken out of cages for weeks or longer must end, this is abuse. The practice of Heart-Sticking as a means of euthanasia must cease.
