May 20, 2017 — DEHRADUN: Major Manish Thapa, who was accused of beating three dogs to death and injuring two others at Garhi Cantt here is seen in a video, which surfaced just recently, admitting that he did beat the animals, but "did not kill them". While the officer continues to be on leave, the respective investigations ordered by the Army and police have not made much progress, with the bodies of the three dogs yet to be found. Moreover, the police investigating officer has gone on leave and has been replaced. In a video obtained through sources by TOI, Thapa, against whom an FIR has been filed for allegedly killing the dogs on May 11, is seen admitting to beating up the dogs. "I struck them in self-defence."
