The Ohio State University carries a strong tradition for millions of people in Ohio and across the United States and maintains its position as one of the most prestigious universities in America. The goal of this petition is for OSU to dissolve their partnership with Nike. CEO John Donahoe recently claimed, “Nike is a brand of China and for China.”

It is public knowledge that China is a communist country who disregards human rights, and currently holds Uyghur Muslims in concentration camps. Their government disregards the happiness and well-being of those in their population and actively punishes those who oppose them. Additionally, Nike is known to produce their apparel in “sweatshops,” commonly populated with children.

An American staple and organization as illustrious and generationally important as The Ohio State University can not afford to be partnered with an organization like Nike, whose affiliation with the communist China disregards human rights on a daily basis. This petition requests The Ohio State University to select a new partner for athletic and university apparel. Not only is this the right thing to do for our country, it is even more important morally.
