Gavin Newsom, Honorable Governor of California

I believe it is time to lift the “stay-at-home” order in California and bring normalcy to day-to-day life. Along with lifting the order, all residents must be asked to wear masks and practice social distancing.

The stay-at-home order has been effective in leveling the slope and making all residents aware of how we behave to minimize transmission of diseases. Given that we can never be without viruses and there can never be a bullet proof defense against them, we must change the way we live every day.

Today many residents cannot earn their living and lead a dignified healthy life. Medical test and procedures are being delayed for not being “essential” resulting in death and despair for patient and families. Government cannot offer residents enough in terms of cash or unemployment benefit. This has significant long-term consequences, one being lower standard of living for all residents and dependence on government for bailout.

We have drugs being used in the society. We have laws and education programs to control drug use. There are consequences when residents do not follow them. In my opinion, dealing with the impact of the virus on society should be no different. 

So, I request you to consider lifting the order and helping bring normalcy to life in the state!
