Before Shelter in Place, Calfornia DMV was already a mess. Hours long wait times to visit DMV, 3+ month lead times to get a behind the wheel driver test.

At this point with DMV shut down during Shelter in Place, the backlog of appointments is something that won't be able to be recovered to accommodate everyone's DMV needs.

This petition is to urge an executive order by Gavin Newsom to follow suit of other states that have issued drivers licenses to all those eligible with learners permits and meet the requirements to schedule a behind the wheel test.

The states basically have outlined during this state of emergency, 16-to-18-year-olds who've had a driving permit for a year and a day can obtain a license merely by getting a parental OK and filling out an online form.
