Law SB 300 in California argues that all people that commit certain crimes have to fulfill a certain time in prison, depending on the degree level of the crime. This is a problem, due to the number of prisoners that are ... with psychopathy. It is proved, that psychopaths don't change their mindset in prison, and in fact, a large amount of them are a part of why recidivism happens. "Psychopaths do not fear punishment or social stigmatization". This is a problem that increases the number of crimes in the state of California. According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, California's recidivism rate has averaged around 50% over the past ten years. A solution for this would be the implementation of a reward-based system for these criminals. "Reward-based treatment, such as giving them their favorite food or video games if they behave, is considered the best course to manage psychopaths who are incarcerated. But even by keeping them calm, this is a means of control, not a cure". This could help control, not cure, as there is no real cure for it. But it is a way of hopefully reducing the number of recidivism in the state of California.
