My son got 15 to life for a first time offense of DUI manslaughter( the charged MURDER) with NO PRIORS of any sort at the young age of 19!!!  The DA changed the charge from manslaughter to murder and didn’t give the jury a choice of the two! It was murder or nothing and that’s how he got him convicted. Almost all counties charge DUI accidents when there is a death with manslaughter. I don’t believe it’s fair for them to pick and choose who gets manslaughter and who gets charged with MURDER and has to do 15 years to life for an accident.
