Richard Groeneweg started this petition to Governor Gavin Newsom

William Nix is serving a life sentence without parole in a prison medical facility and is petitioning the governor to commute his sentence through a medical reprieve.

Will is a first time offender, is 68 years old, has a loving wife with three children and three wonderful grandchildren. He has been in prison for over 30 years and is a man of God.

Having grown up in a wholesome environment with amazing family support, Will was a successful businessman, was once the youngest Ford dealership owner in the nation. What Will lacked was street smarts, so when his family was presented with a perceiver threat, Will made some bad decisions, and the end result was a man being murdered.

Not a single day goes by that Will does not have a huge profound sense of remorse for what he has done.

Will has been a model prisoner who always had a job and his focus has been on rehabilitation from the start. As part of his amends process, and in spite of his poor medical condition, Will has been training dogs for the past three years.

The director of Paws for Life K9 Rescue, Jon Grobman, describes Will as a caring, remorseful and competent person.

The dogs Will trains end up in Forever Homes.

Will"s wife has been by his side faithfully for over 36 years, they are financially stable, and he has a home waiting for him.

We are asking you to make redemption possible and sign this petition to support Will.

Will's days on this planet are numbered with his deteriorating health. Please allow him to be home with his family for the last years of his life.
