Colleges and universities should ban homework. First, many students have part/full time jobs, younger siblings to take care of.  Aside from that going to school already takes a lot of time. Classes are not available at the time that a student has time and are all over the place. A full time student takes approximately 4-5 classes. Professors assign homework as if the students are only taking their class. Most of the time the students have to do all the reading/teaching to themselves because the professors don’t go over it in class. After the student is done reading the next part is to figure out what the homework assignments is about. That’s when the student begins his/her homework. Not to mention that homework for one class can sometimes take more than 2-3 hours now imagine 5 classes that require homework to be done and be due the same days. Then going to work, then finding time to study after spending hours on homework. There’s not enough time to rest, socialize, go to gym etc. I know in order to be successful people need to take sacrifices. However, homework causes too much stress which can sometimes be detrimental to a persons health. Those hours of homework should be used to study for an exam or review what was learned in class that day. Professors need to find a better way to teach their students and make sure that by the time the class is over the students understood the material well. Professors should teach us what will be expected in our careers, at a job. They should also teach us how to succeed in life and how to get hired after graduation. There has been data shown to demonstrate that people with degrees still struggle to find jobs related to their majors. I think it is, because we aren’t shown the proper ways to make connections which can lead to new opportunities.
