"The work of cow protection is not only of one religious sect, but a cow is the culture of India, and the work of saving the culture is of every citizen living in the country irrespective of religion," the Allahabad High Court said recently. The cow is part and parcel of the culture of India.

Cow, the sacred animal of Hindus, has been the national animal of new-secular Nepal since 2015. On similar lines, we humbly request you to sign this petition to enforce solidarity with the Government of India to consider declaring the Cow as India's national animal.

Kamadhenu (the Cow), Kalpavriksha (the Tree of fulfillment), Amruta (the Drink of immortality), and Mother Lakshmi (the Goddess of prosperity) all emerged at the same time in the creational process and is therefore considered to be the most splendorous embodiments of divinity. The Vedas extol Cow as the most sacred being condescended to be on Earth to nourish the beings. The word 'GAU' (Cow) has three seed sounds - G stands for Movement, A stands for Will, and U stands for Wisdom. Gau is therefore considered to be the composite energy movement of Will, Love, and Knowledge. The secretions for forming the seven planes of existence, i.e., Bhu, Bhuvar, Suvar, Mahar, Jana, Tapo, and Satya Loka, emerge from Kamadhenu, and the Vedic seers, therefore, consider the related formation of creation as the form of Cow.

In the recently concluded GauSammelana organized by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) in Tirupati where pontiffs and sadhus from across India congregated, His Holiness Sri Datta Vijayananda Teertha Swamiji, the Junior Pontiff of Avadhoota Datta Peetham, Mysuru said, “while the tiger can remain the “national wild animal,” I wish to procure several thousand signatures to petition the Prime Minister of India to declare the sacred cow as the “national animal” of India. Then it will become everyone’s responsibility to protect Gomata, including the Government and the law enforcement.”
