Following 20+ years of success, the Girl's Volleyball Team at Garden Spot High School has been robbed of the chance to play in their home gym for the 2020 season following the School Board's decision to remove and reconstruct the floor of the school's new gym. The process takes approximately 10 weeks, which would leave the team without a place to play for the majority of their season. This loss of their gym space creates a lack of home court advantage and a second home for all students. In addition to the team, those who will suffer include P.E. students and other fall sports needing a place to practice during problematic weather. The board chose to have the reconstruction at the same time as the locker room reconstructions out of convenience. This decision of convenience shows a true lack of care for the physical and mental well-being of their own students. Student Athlete's have already suffered the loss of spring sports and severe limitations for the preparation portion of the upcoming season.
