Every holiday I see the same thing on the Christmas clothes hanging on the racks in stores: white santa. White santa on television promoting the Christmas holiday and encouraging our children to ask him for gifts. White santa on billboards reminding our children, in case they forgot, that he’s there and willing to bring them whatever they ask for. White santa is the gift bringer, the behavior enforcer, the visionary, and the dream to all of our children. But my santa is black. My kid’s santa is black. And I want to see us represented everywhere. When I go the store to do my holiday shopping, I want to see black santa. My black santa. Because WE give our kids gifts too!
