First stop Ballinasloe Campaign
The Issue
I just want to put into context this campaign, people have offered me good advice like nobody will listen to you and your wasting your time. That’s one thing I have plenty of time to waste. Also, that I upset some people, this is not what this is about and when I am not sure whether I am doing the right thing. I think back to Gerry Kelly and what would have happened if he gave up Connaught Rugby or if Carmel Grealy had not organised defending our Hospital or if Michael Kelly had caved in when Chairman of Urban District Council not to set aside all that money for our beautiful library building and if he had not stepped up and insist on the development of our walking track or if Patsy Geraghty had not set aside the land for the pitch at the back of SuperValu. Ballinasloe people always step up we always have skin in the game no matter what it is from time to time things turn up that are worth fighting for that’s why I don’t feel I am wasting my time. I’m just walking on the shoulders of giants. We are here to sign a petition and will do so shortly. We the people of Ballinasloe and the surrounding area are appealing to Galway County GAA and Camogie Boards and their main sponsor Supermacs to ensure that all Galway All Ireland teams, winners or losers, continue to stop on their return journeys, at the Gateway to the West, Ballinasloe which they have done for the last 100 years. It is our legacy.
The people of Ballinasloe and the local area have always supported Galway GAA with players, supporters and financial aid. Remember that the County Boards greatest asset, The Duggan Park, is in Ballinasloe where every All Ireland team trains.
We have supplied numerous ' Heroes ' to Galway at all levels down through the years and hopefully this will continue for the future. Even in death we always honour our greats. The sight of the crowds lining the streets of Ballinasloe for our greatest ever player, Sean Purcell RIP, when his funeral passed through town, made me so proud to be a Ballinasloe and Galway man.
The Ballinasloe community has supported every Galway club down through the years, that reached an All Ireland final and welcomed them home, win or lose, in the Square.
So please give us back our legacy and show some respect and class.
I doubt if you would see JP McManus showing such disrespect for Limerick supporters. Of course he is a different class.

Response to Ann Kearney Sectary of the Galway Camoige board comments in the Ballinasloe Life
after carefully reading Ballinasloe Life magazine, I ask that you don’t add insult to injury and stop trying to feed this BS to the people of Ballinasloe and East Galway. We were in lockdown for the last two years like everyone else and we deserve to share in your success. (Congrats to Athlone for being the first town in Ireand COVID FREE!) You spent two hours there and drove straight through Ballinasloe. They say that when you’re in a hole you should stop digging, do please apologize and let’s all move on from this.
Response to the GAA County Chair Pat Kearney comment in Ballinasloe Life
who was at pains to point out that the East Galway supporters are not being snubbed. Could he answer this question please, when they were appointing the manager for the Galway minior team 2021, why did they pick a novice instead of a through bread. And also how many players from Easy Galway were on that minior team. There was no representation from Ballinasloe, Caltrain, Mountbelloe, Moyloigh or killeran do to put 10 minors from the one club and playing most of them was an absolute disgrace.
Ja Fallon should have got the job, he was the best equipped man for the job.
