Good news came just before Christmas that the giant Fawside wind farm proposal was refused permission for development, securing much of the Heritage landscape around Langholm for the future - showing that a few determined and honest people from a tiny community can make a stand against Government and industry - and win for once!
The picture shows Pikethaw prehistoric burial cairn on the Fawside footprint - which would have been surrounded by turbines and access roads - The cairn overlooks the second proposed site, the Teviothead wind farm.
The downside is that this second even bigger Teviothead wind farm proposal is now more likely to be approved, but the fight continues...
The last update included a link to the short movie 'The Highway to Hermitage' made to raise the profile of the endangered prehistoric right of way, The Queens Mire, which is within the Teviot Wind farm proposal footprint.
The movie is now being submitted to film festivals around the World, and recently won a merited award at the Accolade Film festival in California.
The soundtrack was written by Northumbrian musician Kathryn Tickell, who has reworked the tune 'The Highway to Hermitage' into a fantastic title track for her new album 'Cloud Horizons' you can listen here.

What a fantastic Heritage way and asset this could be if preserved and developed...
