Rename FWISD schools named after slave owner.

Rename FWISD schools named after slave owner.
The Issue
Ephraim M. Daggett is known to be the, “Father of Fort Worth”, has multiple schools named after him. Although he did contribute to our community, he did not have a good moral standing.
While confederate named schools, statues and community facilities are being removed nationwide, there are three schools within Fort Worth ISD still named after a slave owner.
These schools in FWISD are named after E.M. Daggett. His name is attributed to E.M. Daggett Elementary, Daggett Middle, Daggett Montessori Select School.
E.M. Daggett was a slave owner who, only due to his economic recession, freed slaves after the Civil War. However, although he no longer owned slaves, he continued to have unpaid servants and tenant farmers.
How can we expect a change in the community if the district in our community has yet to acknowledge this inequality?
While we can’t change history, however it is ignorant to not educate ourselves and work towards a change for our future.
