The Issue

🏈 Save the Legacy of Tailgating at FWISD High School Games!

For years, tailgating before High School football games in Fort Worth ISD has been more than just food and fun — it’s been a tradition that unites families, energizes athletes, and strengthens school pride across generations.

Now, that tradition is at risk of being silenced

We, the undersigned students, parents, alumni, and community members, are calling on FWISD to preserve and support tailgating at high school sporting events as a vital part of our district’s culture.

Why it matters:

Tailgating builds community. It brings together students, families, churches, and local organizations in a positive, family-friendly environment.
It boosts school spirit. These gatherings set the tone before kickoff, supporting our athletes and energizing the crowd.
It’s a tradition. Many of us grew up around these tailgates — it’s where we’ve made memories, learned unity, and passed the torch of pride to the next generation.

Instead of ending this practice, we urge FWISD to work with us to create safe, clear, and respectful guidelines that ensure tailgating continues in a responsible way.

Let’s honor what makes our schools unique. Let’s protect what brings us together. Let’s keep tailgating alive in Fort Worth ISD.

💥We respectfully ask FWISD to:

Allow tailgating to continue at school games. namely Homecoming games

Collaborate with parents, students, and the community to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
Celebrate tailgating as part of the culture that makes FWISD strong.

If you believe in community, tradition, and school pride — sign and share this petition.

Don’t let the lights go out on this legacy.

Let’s tailgate — the right way, the proud way, the Fort Worth way.
