Hi, I am Abigail and I am a student at HVMS and I have troubles with seating, and focusing when I cannot sit still in the current chairs at our school. If I had sensory tools like fidgets and can sit on the floor, I would finally be able to focus on my work and complete tasks with ease. But sadly, these things are not funded much at our school, which either makes teachers have to do this with their own money, or makes this an inability to do whatsoever. Some ideas for sensory tools and special seating options would be: fidgets, adjustable tables, chair bands or wobble stools, quieter areas for people who get overstimulated, and headphones to limit the amount of noise to a reasonable level. With that, I’d also like to state that I am not asking for a huge fund, I am just saying that all the students and teachers I asked the question “do you think we should fund special seating and sensory tools?”, and the majority of the students agreed with the idea. I propose that even if we cannot fund all of EUSD schools for this, then at least provide a grant for our school or even just a classroom. Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we hope you can try to fund the matter in the future, for the future.
