My five-year-old son is suffering from muscular dystrophy, a life-threatening disease that is devastating to watch unfold. Every day, he struggles to stand and do the simplest tasks that most children his age take for granted. Each instance he needs our support to do what should be ordinary routines is a reminder of how this condition slowly weakens him.

As a parent, the pain of witnessing a loved one weaken day by day is indescribable. Research indicates that, globally, it affects 1 in every 3,500 to 5,000 male births, and currently, there is no known cure. A complete cure could dramatically improve the quality of life for thousands of individuals and families who suffer from this condition on a daily basis.
