Fund Free Dental Care for All Children

Fund Free Dental Care for All Children
The Issue
My child has been struggling with a dental condition, and unfortunately, our family dentist has moved to private practice, leaving us without an affordable option. We are not registered with a new dentist, and the cost of dental care is an unexpected burden that many families like ours simply cannot afford.
Across our nation, families and their children face similar challenges. Dental health is not just about a bright smile; it is essential to overall health and well-being. According to the World Health Organization, untreated dental issues can lead to severe health problems and affect a child’s ability to eat, speak, and learn. Shockingly, the American Dental Association states that about 93% of people under the age of 20 have some form of dental tooth decay, which remains the most common chronic disease in children and adolescents.
The government has a responsibility to ensure that every child has access to necessary health services, including dental care. Funding free dental care for children would lift the financial pressures from countless families, guaranteeing every child a healthier future and reducing the risk of severe complications from untreated dental conditions.
Concrete action must be taken to expand governmental funding for pediatric dental care, allowing families to access preventive and necessary treatments without the burdensome costs. Other countries have successfully implemented such systems, proving it is both feasible and beneficial. For instance, Sweden ensures free dental care to all children and adolescents up to the age of 23.
We urge the government to allocate necessary funds and create robust initiatives for free dental care aimed at children. This initiative not only promises a healthier young population but also demonstrates a commitment to equal health opportunities.
Sign this petition to demand government-funded free dental care for all children, securing the foundational health rights they inherently deserve.
