Our advocacy is working!  The Board of Education heard our concerns and recently passed a budget to the County Executive requesting an additional $15 million from the county budget for Harford County Public Schools.  These additional funds will reduce the number of teaching and administrative position cuts.  The County Executive is currently reviewing that budget and will soon send it to the County Council for approval.  On a recent interview on Fox News, the County Executive spoke of an increase to the education budget of $10 million.  While this seems like a lot, that number will result in the cuts that you have heard about.  This IS NOT enough and is still below the percentage of the county budget that HCPS has received in the past.  His proposed budget will result in the highest class sizes in the state.  We must speak up NOW while the budget is being developed.  Let Mr. Glassman know that education should be the county's top priority!

DO NOT WAIT!  Email or Call County Executive Barry Glassman and tell him that an additional $10 million is not enough!  Ask him to FULLY FUND the $15 million increase to the HCPS budget.  Our students deserve better than a mediocre school system!
