Full public inquiry into the abuse we suffered at Lower Lee boarding school
The Issue
We are calling for a public inquiry into the horrific abuse we suffered at Lower Lee Boarding School in Woolton, Liverpool.
For more than two decades, we, the forgotten boys of this institution, endured some of the most abhorrent, sadistic, and traumatic abuse imaginable. Children as young as five were subjected to regular beatings, assaults, and mental torment. We were forced to stand in painful and stressful positions for prolonged periods, all while enduring unimaginable suffering.
Many staff members, employed by Liverpool City Council, had no qualifications and were left unchecked to do as they wished to us. Some had documented mental health problems, yet they were still in positions of authority.
In the 1990s, as a result of a court case, two staff members were convicted and sent to prison—one for 12 years for 53 offenses. However, we have never received an apology from Liverpool City Council, nor has there been any government-led investigation into what happened. We have been left to live with the trauma, with no acknowledgment or justice.
We refuse to remain the forgotten boys any longer. We were innocent children who deserve justice and accountability. Please help us by signing this petition and supporting our call for a full public inquiry into the abuse we suffered.
