From Bullwinkle’s to UNO—Same Bar, Same Dangerous Practices

From Bullwinkle’s to UNO—Same Bar, Same Dangerous Practices
The Issue
Our community is under threat from a local bar that is blatantly disregarding the law and endangering the wellbeing of our youth. UNO, previously shut down and known as Bullwinkle’s, has reopened at the same location just across the street from The Ohio State University. Despite its new name, its old habits remain—and they’re more dangerous than ever.
This establishment is openly serving alcohol to individuals under the legal drinking age of 21 and routinely allowing entry through the use of fake IDs. These reckless practices are contributing to a growing epidemic of underage drinking and drug abuse among young people—including my own younger siblings and their friends.
It is not just illegal—it is morally irresponsible. This kind of environment encourages deceit, lawbreaking, and substance abuse, all within walking distance of a university where countless students are working hard to build a better future.
According to the 2010 Surgeon General’s Report, alcohol is the most widely abused substance among America’s youth. Furthermore, young people who begin drinking before the age of 15 are five times more likely to develop alcohol dependency later in life. This is not just a matter of nightlife—it is a public health crisis rooted in negligence and greed.
The fact that this bar was previously shut down under the name Bullwinkle’s and simply reopened under the new identity of UNO is an insult to the efforts our community and local authorities made to curb such dangerous behavior. It shows a blatant disregard for accountability and a willingness to exploit young people for profit.
We owe it to our youth, our families, and the future of Ohio State University to demand action. We urge our city and law enforcement officials to investigate UNO’s practices and take immediate steps to shut this establishment down for good.
Please sign this petition to take a stand against illegal underage drinking and protect the integrity of our community. Together, we can create a safer environment for our young people and uphold the values that truly define us.
