Freedom programme to be part of education at all secondary schools.
The Issue
Hi,
As a victim of domestic abuse I have agreed to attend a programme called the freedom programme which has been a massive eye opener to me and has taught me so many signs and traits of a toxic/abusive relationship/person, it has also taught me all the right things to look for in a person and how to expect to be treated more so than accepting being treated the way a dominator/perpetrator would treat me. It made me think about all the benefits children would get from learning more about this topic. And how much it could help with the growing generations, with a little hope reduce the percentage of domestically violent/abusive relationships.
I dont think children recieve anywhere near enough education regarding this matter, taught right from wrong. Its reality, its happening in the world everywhere. I strongly believe if I was educated about this in school I wouldve identified the signs and never allowed myself to stay trapped in an abusive relationship, resulting in such a deterioration in my mental health this could help so many young children/adults.
As a mother myself I wouldnt want my daughter or son to be a victim of this, I can only hope some form of knowledge for this topic would save them from this happening to them, or turning into a perpetrator.
I think it's about time we take action and help prevent this by doing something so simple but so effective in our schools.
Thank you.
