Freedom Campers of New Zealand, as signed herein, call on current and future Governments to not look at the New Zealand Motor Caravan Association -NZMCA, as an authority on freedom camping in New Zealand, nor as a representative of the freedom camping public of New Zealand.

NZMCA has no mandate from the camping public to act on their behalf, and many of their own members do not wish for them to act on legislative matters on their behalf either. 

NZMCA's own website states their objectives are;

*Promote the safe and courteous operation of "certified self contained"       Motor Caravans in New Zealand
*Promote road safety, safe driving and courteous behaviour by all     "Members"
*Promote and foster good fellowship and enjoyment of Motor Caravan     activities amongst all "Members"
*Promote the provision of safe overnight Motor Caravan parking facilities     for "Members" throughout New Zealand
*Monitor, promote, protect and advocate the collective interests and     "benefits of the Association and its Members" in all matters, whether     legislative, regulatory or otherwise that may affect Motor Caravan activities
*Seek out and provide "Member" benefits

Their objectives do NOT include promotion, or advocating for benefits, or against harsh legislative changes or restrictive Council Bylaws for anyone, but their own membership - often skewing the regulatory response towards others while doing so. This impacts all Responsible Freedom Campers in New Zealand, including families in tents and others.

Now is the time to get this message to the Government before the "Self Contained Motor Vehicles Bill" gets passed into law.
