Hello
We are asking our followers to help us make as many elected officials aware of the wrongful conviction relief act as possible. Please join us this week in calling and writing emails especially if you are a constituent of one of these towns
New Britain/Newington State Representative Gary Turco, 1-800-842-8267, 860-240-8735

Subject Connecticut Is Detaining Innocent People — We Need Your Voice
Hello,
Do you know what is happening right now in Connecticut?
People are being arrested, detained, and kept incarcerated even after presenting credible evidence of their innocence. Under the state’s current legal standard for “newly discovered evidence,” individuals who can demonstrate they did not commit the crime can still be denied relief due to technical legal barriers.
In plain terms: you can be innocent and still remain behind bars.
This is not a theoretical issue. It is happening to real people, right now. Families are being torn apart. Years of life are being lost. And justice is being delayed, not because the truth is unclear, but because the law is too rigid to recognize it.
We are calling/writing to ask where do you stand on innocent people being incarcerated for 14+ years?
Please sponsor the Wrongful Conviction Relief Act because New Britain residents are often overpoliced and overcharged resulting in an increase risk of being wrongfully convicted more so than any other town in Connecticut.
Members from the FreeAbdus campaign will be at the capitol on March 18 and April 7 to answer questions you may have. Please email Elaine at info@kingbishopsentertainment.com to confirm a time you are available to meet with us.
If you believe innocence should matter more than technicalities, we need you with us.
In solidarity,
