The Issue

Did you know a corporation owns the colour orange?

Yes,  the exact shade of orange used in REESE’S packaging is trademarked by The Hershey Company, and they aggressively protect it.

They’ve even sued other chocolate brands for daring to come close.

But colour belongs to everyone, not just billion-dollar corporations.

I’m artist Stuart Semple, and I believe artists, designers, kids with crayons, and anyone with a passion for colour should be able to use ANY colour, including this one.

So I made my own version of the forbidden orange.

And now, just like I did with the world’s blackest black and pinkest pink, I’m asking you to help me liberate this colour.

This week, Hershey’s announced a new CEO, Kirk Tanner.
This is the perfect moment for him to do the right thing.

We’re asking Hershey’s to:

  • Drop their exclusive claim to this shade of orange
Stop threatening artists and competitors over a colour
    Let creativity be free

If Anish Kapoor isn’t allowed to hoard black, then Hershey’s shouldn’t be allowed to hoard orange.

Let’s make colour free again.
