Tasha Shelby was given life without parole for a crime that didn't happen. She was 22 years old when convicted.  She is now 47. She's been in prison for 25 yrs in MS. She was accused of Shaken Baby Syndrome.  Thousands of people have been accused, and many convicted, of harming children by violently shaking them and causing a condition known as Abusive Head Trauma (previously referred to as “shaken baby syndrome”). However, scientists and medical experts have said the three symptoms used to diagnose Abusive Head Trauma — diffuse brain swelling, subdural hemorrhage and retinal hemorrhages — can all result from many other causes, including diseases, falling at home, and even the birthing process, and that the concept of “shaken baby syndrome” has never been validated. Her 3 year old son died from a cerebral hemorrhage caused by falling. The death certificate says the death was accidental. The Innocence Project took on her case over 10 years ago. Despite all the new evidence and the death certificate stating his death was accidental, MS will not release her. She is my niece  and we need to bring her home.
