Free soda Bars in Utah Schools

The Issue

As a significant portion of the Utah population, we have a unique relationship with caffeinated beverages. Most of us don't drink coffee, but we do consume a lot of soda - some with caffeine. This personal habit has led us to recognize an opportunity for improvement within our school systems.

We propose that all schools in Utah should be required to have soda and hot chocolate bars. These stations would not only offer an alternative source of caffeine for students who don't drink coffee but also provide a comforting treat during the colder months.

The cost should be minimal - either cheap enough to pay with student ID or free, allowing at least one beverage per day. The implementation of this proposal could potentially improve student morale and create a more inclusive environment for those who don't partake in traditional coffee culture.

Schools are offering healthier alternatives like diet sodas. The main sweetener in diet sodas is aspartame. Aspartame has been studied extensively. Some concerns exist, suggesting potential side effects like headaches in individuals that have a high consumption. With the high soda consumption in Utah, this is a high risk for many individuals, especially high school students. These students have to wake up early to go to school, learn, and then go to work for long hours. Normal sodas will both benefit there mental and physical health.

Let's make our schools more accommodating by providing affordable access to popular local beverages like soda and hot chocolate. Please sign this petition to show your support for implementing these changes within our educational institutions.
