The Issue
I am writing this petition with a heavy heart and a deep sense of urgency for justice. My son, Lawrence Paine, currently languishes in prison for a crime he did not commit. This is not just a personal plea but an outcry for justice for a gross miscarriage that has stolen 20 years of an innocent man's life. My Son is a Victim of a crime done by the Justice System people might read the words wrongly convictions and give it not much thought! But wrongful convictions are crimes against innocent people and keeping them imprisoned for 10-20-30 years or more. Please people let's get serious! We must put a Stop to wrongful Convictions it's destroying innocent males & females lives that's going through this & their families ! This criminal activity is going on right before our eyes!Why does everyone appears to ignore the facts that wrongful convictions is happening the judges, prosecutor legislators senators, NAACP, Corporations politicians people with clout! Please take the time to read & sign my Son's petition without bias."Wrongful Convictions " are Real! Brady Rights are being denied, the only people that's protected are the detective,judges prosecutors etc etc that's committing these wrongful convictions! We must Stop these criminals activities that happening within the Justice Systems these law makers are destroying people lives what is really going on surely everyone is not in the "Me Think Group" If that's true I can see why there's no help for the "Wrongly Convicted" I appreciate the advocates that fight so diligently hard trying to help the wrongful convicted but the power they are fighting against is unseen & more powerful we must Stop Wrongful Convictions!
In the absence of any DNA evidence, Lawrence's case is riddled with injustices. Crucial surveillance evidence, which could have proven his innocence, was hidden under misleading labels for almost two decades. This act of deceit was allegedly committed to undermine Lawrence's truthful account of his whereabouts on the night of the crime.
The situation becomes even more troubling when considering the recurring misconduct by the Detective involved, known for the wrongful conviction of innocent Black men. It is alarming that this detective is still allowed to testify, perpetuating a cycle of perjury and racial injustice.
According to a report by The National Registry of Exonerations, a disproportionate number of exonerations involve Black individuals who are later found innocent. Lawrence's case is emblematic of this troubling trend, raising urgent questions about racial bias in our justice system.
Moreover, The Innocence Project reports that hundreds of wrongful convictions have been overturned thanks to the surfacing of new evidence and advocacy. Lawrence deserves that same chance.
Our goal is to overturn Lawrence's wrongful conviction and secure his immediate release. To do this, we must push for an independent investigation into the hidden surveillance evidence and the Detective’s conduct.
