Period poverty is a worldwide issue which needs to be addressed. Periods affect more than 50% of the population and yet sanitary products are still not free in public spaces. According to a recent survey by Plan International UK, more than a third of people aged 14-21 struggled to afford access to menstrual products. If free access to menstrual products were provided in public toilets in the Weston area, this would encourage other areas to do the same which would greatly reduce period poverty in the UK.
