Patrick Moore, a compassionate and caring family man from Limerick, who was doing nothing more than helping people with serious illnesses, has been unjustly sentenced to five years in prison. His crime? He grew cannabis, made medicinal oil from it and gave it, free-of-charge, to people suffering dreadful pain, some of them at the end of life.

This is not just about one person’s freedom but about lack of access in Ireland to a medicine that is now widely used all across the world. Although in theory it is available on prescription, access is so restricted that for most people it is impossible to get. Currently the law in Ireland doesn’t allow it for pain which is the reason that most people use it.

The President of Ireland, Uachtarán na hÉireann, Michael D. Higgins, has the power to pardon Patrick or to commute his sentence so that he can be immediately released from prison. Please, sign the petition now to ask the President to free Patrick Moore.
