Free Maurice “Papa Joe” Williams — wrongfully convicted, innocent, & deserves justice no
The Issue
Maurice Williams, better known in his community as “Papa Joe,” is a man who has always stood for family, love, and giving back. For years, he dedicated his life to mentoring young people, helping families in need, and being a positive force in a world that often forgets the most vulnerable.
Today, that same man is sitting behind bars — not because of something he did, but because of something he couldn’t have done.
Papa Joe was wrongfully convicted on a gun charge in Ohio. But the truth is undeniable:
The firearm that led to his conviction was found in Ohio.
At that very time, Maurice was in Washington, D.C. — miles away, in a completely different state.
There is no credible evidence linking him to the weapon.
Yet, despite these facts, he is serving time for a crime he did not commit.
This wrongful conviction has not only stolen Papa Joe’s freedom — it has ripped him away from his loved ones, from the children and families he once supported, and from the community that still needs him. His absence is felt deeply every single day.
We believe in justice. And justice means freeing the innocent.
We are calling on the courts, lawmakers, and all relevant authorities to review this case, overturn this conviction, and bring Papa Joe home where he belongs.
Papa Joe deserves freedom. His family deserves him back. And the community deserves to see a man who has given so much finally receive justice.
