Lee Paul started this petition to to the president

I am writing this petition in support of Lee Paul. We are requesting he be released from prison to be with family during these times. He’s served 5 of his prison years and has been rehabilitated. During the 5 years he’s utilized the time to study, to mentor, and share his journey to help people to make better choices and to think about the rippling effects of their actions. He recently graduated and received a certificate in the Life Connections Program. Knowing the man my uncle has cultivated into and the efforts he takes to continue in his growth as a man, as a Father, a son, a brother and uncle is an honor.
The sharing of his kindness, compassion and learning every time we communicate is something I'm encouraged to incorporate in my own growth.

We ask that you please support this petition to free Lee Paul. He’s become a great pillar of strength and I can say from a pure space he’s grown.
He’s written the judge today also asking to be released. If you can please show your support by signing, sharing and/or commenting on this petition form requesting he’s released that’d be great! Thanks. Lee sends his love and gratitude for all the Love and Support.

written by Lee Paul: PRISONER'S LIVES MATTER

For so many years an increased number of Black and Brown men has been taken away from their loved ones and wrongfully convicted for crimes in which they didn't commit. Police brutality is just one form of injustice that people are aware of. But what about the people who have escaped police brutality only to be sacrificed by the judicial system. I would like to illustrate how I became a victim of a broken system. For starters, if I had been born white or could have afforded a 50,000 dollar lawyer I wouldn't even be in this situation. But considering I am black and poor I was provided an attorney who was employed by the same people who were trying to convict me. A Federal Defender receives 15,000 dollars for every case they receive that ends in a plea bargain. I refused to sign a plea agreement for a crime that I didn't commit and my attorney received 30,000 dollars to prepare for trial. In the one year that I was locked up preparing for trial, my attorney had visited me only 3 times. All 3 times we never discussed any trial strategies, subpoenaed any of my witnesses (WHO WERE PRESENT AT THE TIME OF MY ALLEGED OFFENSE) nor went over any questions to the alleged victims to cause them to impeach themselves. Every time he visited me he only spoke of a plea bargain despite my innocence. (Honestly, if someone paid you 30,000 to represent someone to go against them, would you try hard to represent them knowing that you will get paid no matter if you won or lost) But most importantly the lawyer has a duty to the Court first and foremost and that duty comes before even representing his clients. I tried to terminate my attorney many times but I would have been forced to represent myself at trial. Many people don't know this but watching a trial proceeding in reality is the same as watching an episode of Law and Order. Everything is scripted from your attorney, prosecutor, witnesses, and sometimes even the Judge all being in cahoots knowing each other's next move. A trial proceeding usually ranges from 100,00-250,000 dollars and is only designed to appease the person who is on trial and the taxpayers who fund the trial. Even the alleged victims are coerced to say what the government wants them to say. Paid actors are disguised as witnesses in order to give false testimony. All of this is going on in front of a jury or your peers (WHICH WAS AN ALL WHITE JURY IN MY CASE) I was convicted 5 years ago and have been incarcerated ever since. In those 5 years, I have transformed my life. I became so caught up in self-development that I forgot that I was wrongfully convicted. Honestly, I thought that I would have been free by now. The bible says "The truth shall set you free". But now I realize that it is a bigger truth that needs to be set free. The truth of an unjust judicial system and I pray that people can look at my situation as an example of what's going on all around the United States.
Prisoner Lives Matter!!!
