The Issue

Jacky Lee Robinson Jr. has spent 23 years of his life incarcerated, after being convicted for two counts of murder committed in Akron, Ohio in Summit County when he was merely 18 years old. Today, he is 41. Jacky's story is tragic and his life path was heavily influenced by a deeply abusive and dysfunctional childhood that left him struggling with severe mental health issues. His court-appointed attorney identified these issues early on and pled Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity (NGRI) on Jacky's behalf during his initial hearings in 2003 and 2005.

Despite these clear indications of mental health struggles, the court appointed their own mental health professionals to assess Jacky's condition and the verdict led him into a cycle of continual imprisonment. The justice system failed to fully account for his mental health during his trials, and as a result, Jacky was wrongfully convicted. He has lived behind bars for over two decades, never fully receiving the mental health support or the understanding that someone with his background urgently needed.

Today, we are asking for justice and fairness in Jacky's case. We believe in the principle that justice should be rooted in truth and understanding. Jacky Lee Robinson Jr. deserves a fair re-evaluation of his conviction, taking into account the abuse and mental health challenges he faced since childhood that were severely underestimated at the time of his trial.

We urge the legal system to consider the time Jacky has already served, his current mental health status, and the circumstances that led to his wrongful conviction. Releasing him from imprisonment, after such a long time, is a step towards justice that we can and must take.

Join us in calling for the immediate review and reconsideration of Jacky's case. Let's come together in compassion, seek justice, and advocate for a fair chance in life for Jacky. Please sign this petition to help Jacky Lee Robinson Jr. find freedom, peace, and a future beyond bars.
