Say sorry and allow a right to reply

The Issue

We are asking for your help to stamp out racism against the UK’s and Europe's Gypsy, Irish Traveller, Roma and other Traveller populations who are often the target of negative press coverage. Rod Liddle, writing in the Spectator, thinks it’s acceptable to call men, women and children from these three ethnic minorities ‘gypos’ and ‘pikeys’, the equivalent of using the highly offensive n-word to describe ethnic minority black groups.

Rod Liddle could have written an opinion piece on this topic without being racist and without using terms which are highly offensive and hurtful. As it stands, his article would not look out of place on a far-right website.

In the Romani language, the word for ‘Enough!’ is ‘Dosta!’.

Please help the Traveller Movement to stamp out racism towards Gypsy, Irish Traveller, Roma and other Traveller populations by saying ‘Dosta!’ and signing our petition asking for the Spectator to make a public apology for giving a platform for racism and to give a right to reply to Rod Liddle’s article.
