As you all know, we are in a pandemic, and currently experiencing a second wave of COVID-19 by where COVID-19 cases are rapidly increasing, AGAIN! This virus has affected so many people and lives in so many ways. I cannot express enough how important it is that we all do our part to protect one another, and to do this we MUST wear our masks.

We have all had to make changes and adjustments to our lives, including distancing ourselves from friends and family, near and far because of travel restrictions with in Canada and the US. This is not easy for any one of us, but for those that are making the necessary changes and doing their part, I applaud you!

I start this petition because recently taking my son to school and picking him up, I am still noticing that parents and caregivers are not wearing masks, and this is after the November 7th, 2020 announcement of our Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry. I don't think it's right for parents or caregivers that are wearing their masks to feel anxious or unsafe in the school setting where it is next to impossible to keep your distance while dropping off or picking up your child from school. I want my son and I to feel safe!

Our numbers will keep rising and we will not get back to any sort of normal if people are not doing their part and wearing their masks while at school, or anywhere for that matter. We need to protect the one another, especially the more vulnerable: our children, our elders, our health care workers. 

Please, do your part and LET'S MAKE MASKS MANDATORY!
