As we head into summer, I do have a few cast updates for everyone.
First off, Kiele Sanchez will once again star in Season 3 of “Kingdom” playing on DirecTV’s Audience network. I have been a big fan of this show since its inception and encourage everyone to take a look if you have DirecTV. For those that don’t, previous seasons can be purchased from various online outlets including iTunes and Amazon. I can assure you, it will be worth it.
“Girl Meets World” series creator, Michael Jacobs has confirmed that Uriah Shelton will play a signifiant role as Josh Matthews this next season airing on the Disney Channel. He was previously written out of Season 2 after his motorcycle accident. Mr. Jacobs also made some positive comments about Uriah as a person, and for those with tweens, and even fans of the previous “Boy Meets World”, I think you will find this to be a great show. Uriah also filmed “Warrior’s Gate”, but a release date is still unannounced.
After a recurring run on “Madam Secretary”, Carlos Gomez has turned back to the theater and I’m sure a much needed rest after such a busy schedule. We look forward to perhaps seeing his character return to “Madam Secretary”, but will certainly keep an eye out for any new projects. He has indicated on his official Twitter (@itscarlosgomez) that he filmed in Cuba recently. Perhaps more information about that series will be released soon.
To close out the updates, Fox Broadcasting announced the Season 4 renewal of “Sleepy Hollow” lead by EP and show runner Clifton Campbell. However, I have been deeply disturbed by the harsh comments and accusations directed towards Mr. Campbell and the writers after the Season 3 finale killed off a lead character. As fans, we know pretty close to 0% about any behind the scenes activities that played into that decision, and until someone with first hand knowledge steps up and makes a statement, it will remain that way. Accusations of racism and personally disparaging comments on Twitter were just really uncalled for. There is absolutely no evidence race played any part in this. Mr. Campbell and the writers were unfairly attacked for something we, as fans, know nothing about. Bringing a TV show to air involves significant complexities that none of us really understand. I hope those who used their "140 characters of shame" will take a step back and realize how foolish their comments were. All of us get upset when our favorite TV show takes a turn we don’t expect or want. As a fan of “The Glades” I understand that completely; however, I don’t believe in any of the fallout from that cancellation lead to the disparaging comments as has been posted about the “Sleepy Hollow” season finale. I hope that everyone will take a step back and realize that these are people who are working very hard to bring our favorite TV shows to us each week and should treat them with the respect they deserve.
As always, you can follow me for updates @thegladesaddict on Twitter. Perhaps we will see the return of "The Glades" one day. You never know! But until then, let's continue to support the cast's other projects.
