Usman Mohammed started this petition to Professor Penelope Endersby (Chief Executive of the Met Office)

The Met Office are running a competition that lets people name the next set of storms to hit the UK. Fossil fuel corporations like Shell, ExxonMobil and BP are behind so much of the climate breakdown we're experiencing, so we believe the storms should be named after them.

Imagine it: "Storm BP has caused floods across the UK", "Storm Shell is battering the South Coast", "Storm Exxon is forcing families to leave their homes"

The big fossil fuel corporations have armies of PR teams and lawyers. They protect their company profits while the rest of us deal with the damage they cause. Their relentless fossil fuel emissions are resulting in more storms across the UK (and many other places around the world). These result in long periods of floods and droughts, which cause havoc to our food and water.

That's why thousands of us need to demand that the Met Office take a stand against the companies causing climate breakdown. Once enough of us are on the petition, we'll deliver it straight to the head of the Met Office to make sure we're heard.

Fossil fuel companies aren't admitting to the damage they're causing. So we're going to write their names all over it.
