Hens (not noisy roosters!) are important components in the food chain. Local food movements are taking root all over America and low-maintenance farm animals like hens should not be left out! Like any other animal they do need owners that are responsible for their cleanliness, habitat, diet and maintenance. However, with proper regulation the introduction of chickens into our urban area can become a source of education, food (eggs), and joy for so many of us urban dwellers.
