As discussed in the Forsyth County News paper, this statue of Hiram Parks Bell stands in the Cumming town square. A former confederate congressman, he was a white supremacist who believed in “white over black domination”, and his statue is standing in our town square. In a town that just started moving forward with a successful Black Lives Matter protest, it is imperative that we take away the monuments that are based on racism. This monument should be taken down immediately so that our black community members begin to feel loved and protected by our city the way they deserve to be.
