I am a long standing F1 fan, but I am an even bigger fan of human rights and especially of women rights; seeing how the former (Formula 1) could be used to whitewash abuses of the latter causes me a lot of anger.

Saudi Arabia regularly ranks at the very bottom of the various surveys of respect of human rights; the list abuses is very long, including but non limited to: judicial corporal punishment, torture, human trafficking, sexual slavery; particularly for women: guardianship system, segregation and numerous other restrictions. Until 2018 Saudi Arabia was the only country in the world where women were not allowed to drive; several women are still in prison for having dared driving a car. 

The Formula One Group has agreed to race for the first time in 2021 a Gran Prix in Saudi Arabia: the F1 Gran Prix in Jeddah would be just another occasion for the Saudi political regime to continue their operation of "image laundering" to conceal the long list of abuses.

The F1 drivers, led by world champion Lewis Hamilton, are actively engaged in a campaign against racism (#WeRaceAsOne); we ask the F1 drivers to show the same sensitivity for the respect of human rights (and especially of women rights) by opposing to race in Saudi Arabia.
