Formal Petition for Review and Removal of Committee Members

I. Stagnation of Community Development and Programming

The Musallah is intended to serve not only as a venue for Jumu'ah prayers, but also as a center for education, engagement, and community development.

However, members of the congregation have expressed ongoing concerns that, in recent years, there has been limited progress toward expanding programming and services.

Community members have indicated that various proposals — including educational workshops, youth initiatives, and broader engagement efforts — were submitted but, in their view, did not receive sufficient consideration or follow-up.

---

II. Operational Efficiency and Use of Resources

Concerns have also been raised regarding the utilization of the current leased facility. At present, its primary consistent use appears to be limited to Friday prayers.

Members have questioned whether this level of usage aligns with the financial commitments associated with maintaining the space, and whether alternative strategies could better serve the broader needs of the community.

---

III. Strategic Financial Direction

There is a growing view among members that a long-term strategy focused on acquiring a properly zoned, permanent property may better support both religious services and expanded programming.

Many believe such an approach could provide greater stability and allow for more diverse community initiatives.

We, the undersigned members of the community, respectfully submit this petition requesting a formal review of the leadership and governance of the organization, including the roles of Mohammed Azim and Umair Abid.

This request is made in good faith and in the interest of supporting transparency, accountability, and the long-term sustainability of the community.

Areas of Concern

1. Community Development and Program Growth

Members have expressed concern regarding the pace and scope of community development initiatives.

- Reports from members suggest that some proposed educational and youth programs were not advanced.

- The current usage of the facility has led to questions about whether community resources are being maximized effectively.

---

2. Financial Oversight and Decision-Making

Concerns have been raised regarding certain financial decisions and their outcomes.

- Members have questioned whether all relevant factors, such as zoning limitations and operational constraints, were fully considered in past decisions.

- There is concern about the financial impact of these decisions and whether alternative approaches may have been available.

---

3. Transparency and Accountability

Transparency is essential to maintaining trust within the community.

- Members have requested greater clarity regarding financial processes, including the criteria used for charitable distributions.

- Some individuals have indicated that requests for information were not met with the level of detail or communication they expected.

---

4. Accessibility and Governance

Effective leadership requires accessibility and responsiveness.

- Concerns have been raised regarding the availability of certain leadership members to address time-sensitive matters.

- Some members feel that geographic distance may have contributed to delays or communication challenges.

---

5. Community Conduct and Engagement

A respectful and collaborative environment is essential for any community organization.

- Some members have reported experiencing or witnessing interactions they perceived as unprofessional or confrontational.

- These concerns have contributed to a broader perception of reduced trust and cohesion within the community.

---

Conclusion and Request for Action

In light of the concerns outlined above, we respectfully request that the Board of Directors:

a. Initiate a fair and impartial review of the concerns raised in this petition.

b. Assess leadership performance in accordance with the organization’s bylaws and governance standards.

c. Take appropriate action, if warranted, based on the findings of such a review.

d. Implement measures to strengthen transparency, accountability, and community engagement moving forward.

All actions should be carried out in accordance with the organization’s governing bylaws.

This petition is submitted in good faith, with the intention of promoting unity, accountability, and the long-term success of the Cloverdale Islamic Society.

We trust that this matter will be handled with the seriousness and professionalism it deserves.
