Today, SDAC customer service has called me to say that they are looking into this after seeing the petition. After reviewing the facts and the many Rangerians experiencing the same defect, they have made recommendations to the "Service Team". But he also said, cannot promise any result. The fact is:
- The plastic will break without any interference from owners. This is definitely a defect.
- Service Center claims, this item is not wide-spread.
- The cost to purchase the replacement is RM480 but the official service centers are charging over RM1,000!
In any case, if they are a good company, they should address the issue. I suggested:
- If within warranty period, SC should replace for free;
- If after warranty period, SC should replace at lower cost since its a known issue. e.g. RM200-RM300 since its really only just a piece of plastic!
I will update again if there are further response from SDAC. In the meantime, keep sharing to see how many Ford Ranger owners are affected. Also, if you have photos, please share so SDAC can SEE the extent of the issue!
