Ford, GM and Tesla, the East Coast needs you NOW. Deploy your V2L/V2H/V2G tech. Save Lives
The Issue
I am one of the many people moved, distressed, and haunted by the aftermath of Hurricane Helene on the East Coast. My friend Gaige shared the devastating reality of the disaster, which hit me hard and shook me to my core. Normally, being off social media, I’m the last to hear about these things, but after learning about it, I can’t just stand by and say, "That's terrible." I need to act.
Today, I’m appealing directly to Ford, General Motors, and Tesla—the auto giants who’ve been talking up their Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), Vehicle-to-Home (V2H), and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology, especially for emergencies like power outages. That emergency is here and very present. This is the moment to put that tech to work.
The East Coast is suffering. Power isn’t just a convenience right now—it’s a life-saving necessity that many people simply don’t have access to. And this tech, the same tech that’s been pitched as a solution in case of emergencies, is sitting unused. That has to change, now.
According to the Department of Energy, V2L/V2H/V2G technology can send power back to the grid or directly power homes and businesses during outages (source: DOE). Rutgers University researchers have confirmed that this type of energy transfer could be a temporary solution to power shortages during emergencies like Hurricane Helene (source: Rutgers University).
Ford, GM, Tesla—you have the opportunity right now to be heroes. To make a real, life-saving difference. This isn’t about profit or PR—it’s about doing what’s right. When you have the power to help, you have a responsibility to step up.
Don’t wait. Lives are at stake. We’re calling on you to deploy your V2L/V2H/V2G technology NOW. Unleash it not as a marketing tool, but as a lifeline for those who need it most.
Sign this petition and let’s demand action for a crisis that has become a harsh reality for too many. Let’s make sure these companies step up and deliver on their promises.
