IS THE CITY TAMPERING WITH THE FREEDOM OF THE PRESS?

COS Land Swap

Here are my comments for the City Council today: Good afternoon, The City claims to be unsure as to whether reducing the number of lanes on Cascade will cause traffic to backup. I don't believe that this is true. The City counts cars and has equations to determine exactly what will happen. How could the City have made such a mistake on Research Parkway a while back? The City appears to be acting recklessly and maliciously. Councilwoman Gaebler claims that only a very small group of residents oppose the city’s plans. In an article that appeared in the gazette on March 20th following a town hall meeting on the issue the reporter says: “About 100 people attended, and many expressed dismay over a planned traffic overhaul in the neighborhood”. I attended that meeting in March. Listen to what the Gazette said about me: “Carl Strow suggested Gaebler and Krager have ulterior motives to change the neighborhood's atmosphere. He told them he has connections in Washington, D.C., and in the District Attorney's Office, but the audience members and city leaders shrugged off the vague comment”. How did the reporter make such an analysis? “Audience members and city leaders shrugged off the vague comment”? Did the reporter make this judgement on his own, or did the City tell the reporter to defame my character? Did the City use some form of guidance to instruct that reporter as to what to say? Is the City using guidance to deter the media from reporting the problems with the land swap and the Incline? The media has a legal responsibility to keep the city honest, and the city may not use guidance to deny the public its right to oversight on City officials. Why did the Broadmoor really close the Cog Railway, and why is the City allowing the public to be deceived? At the ceremony last week on the summit of Pikes Peak Mayor Suthers used a phrase from one of my emails to mock me. Does the Mayor believe that the summit house does harm to me, or to my interests? Does the City believe that their design is inferior? Your Summit House is most certainly not the Crown of America's Mountain, it is a perverse appendage growing out of the side of her head. The City is compelled to act in the public’s best interests. How many people in this room have sure knowledge of malicious intent in the summit house project, and are happily looking the other way? In that email I questioned the variance in the fire code that was granted to the summit house. If the variance does not apply, the entire public comment process is invalid, and construction has to stop.
