PETITION FOR JUSTICE, SAFETY, AND ACCOUNTABILITY FOR ALEYCHA APONTE

 

Demand an Immediate and Impartial Investigation Into Bullying, Physical Violence, and Disciplinary Action

 

To: School Administration, Superintendent, School Committee, and Appropriate School Officials

 

We, the undersigned, are coming together to demand immediate attention and accountability regarding the treatment of 16-year-old Aleycha Aponte, who has reportedly experienced ongoing bullying and harassment involving two students since 2024.

 

According to Aleycha and her family, the situation recently escalated into a physical confrontation in which Aleycha was attacked by one of the students involved. It is further alleged that, following the incident, the other student's mother physically assaulted Aleycha by punching her in the face.

 

Aleycha is a minor.

 

We are deeply concerned that, despite the circumstances surrounding this incident and the reported history of bullying, Aleycha was suspended from school for three days and removed from her softball team after defending herself.

 

WE ARE DEMANDING ANSWERS.

 

We want to know:

 

- What steps did the school take in response to the reported bullying beginning in 2024?

- Were previous complaints and reports properly documented and investigated?

- What investigation was conducted into the physical attack involving Aleycha?

- Was the alleged assault by an adult against Aleycha properly reported and addressed?

- Why was Aleycha suspended, and what evidence was considered in making that decision?

- Why was she removed from her softball team?

- What policies were used to make these disciplinary decisions?

- What steps are being taken to ensure Aleycha's safety going forward?

- What action is being taken regarding the students accused of repeatedly bullying her?

- What protections are being put in place to prevent further bullying, retaliation, or harassment?

 

WE ARE DEMANDING ACCOUNTABILITY.

 

We are calling for a complete, impartial, and thorough review of:

 

1. The reported bullying and harassment dating back to 2024.

 

2. The recent physical altercation involving Aleycha.

 

3. The alleged physical assault by an adult.

 

4. The circumstances surrounding Aleycha's three-day suspension.

 

5. Her removal from the softball team.

 

6. The school's response to previous reports of bullying.

 

We are asking school officials to take appropriate disciplinary action against any student found responsible for bullying, harassment, or physical violence, up to and including expulsion when supported by the investigation and applicable school policies.

 

ALEYCHA DESERVES TO BE SAFE.

 

No student should have to attend school feeling afraid of being bullied, threatened, or physically harmed.

 

No minor should feel that reporting bullying or defending herself after being attacked will result in her being punished without the circumstances being fully and fairly investigated.

 

We are not asking for special treatment.

 

We are asking for:

 

FAIRNESS.

SAFETY.

ACCOUNTABILITY.

TRANSPARENCY.

A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION.

 

We respectfully demand that school officials take this matter seriously, provide answers to Aleycha and her family, and take appropriate action based on the facts and evidence.

 

WE STAND WITH ALEYCHA.

 

By signing this petition, we are asking school officials to immediately review this situation, address the reported bullying and violence, protect Aleycha from further harassment or retaliation, and ensure that all students involved are held accountable under the same standards and school policies.

 

We demand answers.

We demand accountability.

We demand justice.

We demand a safe school environment for Aleycha.
